Privacy Policy

Margin ("Margin", "we") runs a learning service for people of every age. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and we don't sell your data, ever.

What we collect

• Account details: your name and email (or Google sign-in profile). Guests get a random temporary account.
• Learning profile: age band, what you're studying (board, class or exam), language, interests and goals, which you choose during setup.
• What you create: questions you ask, answers you receive, notes, flashcards, quiz results, study plans and documents you upload (we store the extracted text, not the original file).
• Photos you attach: sent to an AI model to read the question; we keep only a small thumbnail in your conversation.
• Payments: handled by Razorpay or Stripe. We receive the payment status and reference, never your full card or UPI details.
• Basic usage: daily activity totals (minutes, questions, cards) to show your progress and streak.

How AI processing works

To answer you, your question and relevant context are sent to an AI model provider (such as Google, Groq, Mistral, Cerebras, OpenRouter or others listed in our documentation). If you add your own API key, your requests go to that provider under your key. Providers process the text to produce a reply; some free tiers may use prompts to improve their models. Please don't share sensitive personal information in your questions.

Study packs (notes, flashcards and quizzes about a topic) don't contain your personal data and are shared with other learners studying the same topic.

Children

Margin is designed to be safe for young learners. If you are under 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live), a parent or guardian should create the account and supervise use. Parents can download or delete their child's data at any time from Settings, or by writing to us.

Your choices

• Download all your data as a file from Settings → Your data.
• Clear your conversations, or delete your account and everything in it, at any time.
• Remove any API key you added.

When you delete your account we erase your learning data. We keep minimal payment records where the law requires it, detached from your profile.

Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), API keys you add are encrypted at rest, and access to production data is restricted.
